Overcoming addiction takes more than getting substances out of the body. Lasting recovery requires time, structure, and support to understand why substance use began, to change the patterns that keep it going, and to build a healthier way of living. Residential drug and alcohol rehab at Highwater Detox provides exactly that. Patients live at our private, 12-bed facility in Granada Hills, near Los Angeles, California, where they can step away from daily triggers and stress and focus entirely on healing.
What Is Residential Rehab?
Residential rehab, also called inpatient rehab, is one of the most intensive levels of addiction care. Patients stay on-site 24 hours a day, with clinical staff available around the clock and treatment provided 7 days a week. This constant support is especially valuable in early recovery, when cravings, emotions, and old habits can feel overwhelming. Being surrounded by professionals and peers who understand the recovery process makes it much easier to stay on track during the most vulnerable weeks.
A Seamless Transition From Detox
Many patients begin residential rehab immediately after completing medically supervised detox at Highwater Detox. Because both programs take place in the same facility, the transition is seamless. Patients keep the same treatment team, the same environment, and the same individualized plan, which simply expands as they become physically stable. This continuity removes the waiting period between detox and rehab, a time when many people relapse.
Individualized Treatment Plans
Every patient in our residential program receives an individualized treatment plan based on a thorough assessment of their substance use, physical and mental health, personal history, and goals. Plans combine evidence-based services, including individual therapy, group therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and addiction counseling. When clinically appropriate, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) continues during residential care to help manage cravings. Plans are reviewed regularly and adjusted as each patient progresses.
Therapies Used in Residential Rehab
Individual therapy gives patients private time with a therapist to explore the personal roots of their addiction. Group therapy provides connection, accountability, and the chance to learn from others who share similar struggles. CBT helps patients identify and change the thoughts and behaviors that lead to substance use, while DBT teaches practical skills for managing strong emotions, tolerating distress, and building healthier relationships. Addiction counseling focuses on relapse prevention and planning for life after treatment.
7, 30, 60, and 90-Day Rehab Programs
Highwater Detox offers residential programs in 7, 30, 60, and 90-day lengths. A 7-day stay can help stabilize patients after detox and build a foundation for continued recovery. Thirty days allows time to learn and practice core recovery skills. Sixty and 90-day programs provide the opportunity for deeper work on underlying issues, stronger habits, and greater confidence before returning home. Our clinical team helps each patient and family choose the length of stay that best fits their needs.
A Holistic Approach to Recovery
We believe recovery should support the whole person. Alongside clinical therapy, our holistic approach includes yoga classes, massage therapy, spa procedures, a fitness studio, and outdoor excursions and activities. Freshly prepared gourmet meals, with all dietary restrictions accommodated, help patients restore their health and energy. Patients can choose individualized or shared rooms, and cell phones, computers, and internet access are allowed on a case-by-case basis.
Co-ed, Couples, and Pet-Friendly Options
Our residential program is designed to remove common barriers to treatment. As a co-ed facility, Highwater Detox welcomes men and women into a respectful, professionally supervised community. Couples can enter rehab together through our couples rehab program, and our pet-friendly rehab option allows patients to keep their companion animals close during treatment. Patients with a co-occurring mental health disorder receive integrated dual diagnosis care within their residential plan.
